Sandwich Fridays — The Ollie
Hol up, there's broccoli in my sandwich?
Not gonna lie, this sandwich really made me stop and think about all of the past sandwiches I ever had in my life for a moment.
The Ollie is a sandwich that consists of roast turkey breast, provolone, broccoli rabe, crystal hot honey, and mayo on a seeded hero. In the beginning I was a bit hesitant on ordering this, because I never thought that adding broccoli to a sandwich like this would be a good idea. I'm so glad I was wrong.
Texture and flavor wise, this sandwich pulls ALL the way through. The creaminess of the mayo and hot honey, paired with the perfectly cooked broccoli rabe was so flavorful. The turkey breast was the perfect thickness, wasn't dry, and complimented the rabe excellently. The added bite of the broccoli was a great contrast to it all as well. I will say, the provolone got a bit lost, but it didn't detract from the experience and to be honest—I don't even think it needs it.
Structure wise it held up well, and didn't feel like I was fumbling my sandwich unlike the American Combo. To be fair though, this is a bit on the safer side in terms of what you can really fill with a hero roll if you tried.
Overall, this is a very good sandwich all around, and I can't wait to go back to this one once I finish reviewing the rest of the menu.
