Sandwich Fridays — The Delight

The delight is truly a delight.

A cut sandwich with corned beef, swiss cheese, coleslaw, full sour pickles, and comeback sauce on Orwasher’s rye bread.

While yes, on paper you can argue it’s a just slightly modified version of a Rueben, but these modifications really put it over a typical Reuben for me personally.

Consisting of corned beef (or turkey if you’d like), swiss cheese, coleslaw, full sour pickles, and comeback sauce on Orwasher’s rye bread, the Delight is a hearty sandwich that packs a lot of flavor. The coleslaw was delicious, and the undertone of the Swiss cheese paired with the sour pickles makes it something unique that you can’t get in a typical Reuben.

The result was a flavor that was memorable, especially with the Orwashers rye bread—which is saying something as I am typically not a fan of rye bread. Texture came through well, with the coleslaw and pickles offering some bite as the corned beef was nice and tender. Structure wise, it held up remarkably. I was shocked that the coleslaw and comeback sauce didn’t make this a slippery mess of a sandwich with the bread. Also keep in mind that we get these sandwiches delivered to us, and the fact that it held up this well during its journey is saying something.

This is a sandwich that I can see easily see being in my top 5 when I’m done with my Sandwich Friday series.
